Below is a list of questions every homeowner needs to ask themselves when evaluating "how safe is your home in the event of a fire?"
- What is your Local Fire Departments Name?
- Do you have their number close to the phone?
- How long would it take for the Fire Department to respond to your home?
- Will the Fire Trucks be able to use the access roads or road to your home?
- Depending on the time of day, how many people would probably be responding?
- What is the average age of the membership of your Fire Department and are they physically able to fight the fire once they arrive to the location?
- In the event of a fire, does your Fire Department use Fire Suppressing Foams and/or Gels? If so, how much do they have in stock? ©
- During a wildfire, will the Fire Department be arriving at your home immediately or are there other homes in the area that will need help at the same time?
- If you own a Farm or Ranch, what insurance coverage do you have on your livestock and crops? Is it enough that you will be able to cover your bills if you lost them to fire?
- If you own a company, can a Fire Department use their equipment to enter every section of your building and effectively put out a fire without loss to most or all of your inventory and equipment?
